Macadamia Integrifolia Seed Oil
Macadamia oil
INCI: MACADAMIA INTEGRIFOLIA SEED OIL
Type: Nut oil
Origin: Cold-pressed from the nuts of the macadamia tree
What it does:
Macadamia oil is a highly stable emollient and occlusive oil celebrated for its rich, skin-identical lipid profile. Primary functions: Barrier repair and moisturization: Its fatty acid composition closely mimics human sebum, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with the skin's lipid barrier, reinforcing it and reducing TEWL. Skin conditioning: Delivers deep emollience, leaving skin exceptionally soft, smooth, and supple without a heavy greasy feel. Antioxidant contribution: Contains natural tocopherols (Vitamin E) and squalene, providing antioxidant stability and protection.
Why we use it:
Fatty acid profile: It has an extremely high oleic acid content (~55-65%) and a significant amount of palmitoleic acid (omega-7, ~20-25%), a fatty acid also found in human sebum. This unique profile is responsible for its excellent skin affinity and nourishing properties. Comedogenic rating: Rated 2-3 (low to moderate). While nourishing, its richness may be best for normal, dry, or mature skin. We use it as a premium replenishing oil for its exceptional barrier-supporting qualities. It is chosen to deeply nourish and restore suppleness, particularly in formulations targeting dry skin or barrier repair.
