Ceramides

Ceramides are ingredients designed to directly repair and replenish the skin's natural barrier. Each component has a specific, synergistic role: Ceramide AP (Ceramide 6 II) and Ceramide NP (Ceramide 3): Fundamental building blocks of the stratum corneum's lipid layers. They restore cohesion and water-holding capacity. Ceramide EOP (Ceramide 1): A unique, long-chain "rivet" ceramide that links lipid layers together, dramatically strengthening the barrier and reducing transepidermal water loss (TEWL). Cholesterol: A essential lipid that modulates the fluidity of the lipid layers and is critical for their proper formation and function. The optimal ratio with ceramides is key to efficacy. Phytosphingosine: A ceramide precursor and bioactive lipid with antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, which also helps stimulate the skin's own ceramide production. Together, these ingredients mimic the skin's natural mortar to rebuild barrier integrity, lock in hydration, and improve resilience.
